The Medieval Fortress of Târgu Mureș was built in the first part of the 1600s. It was built in place of the former castle-fortress of the Transylvanian voivode Báthori István destroyed by the Turkish-Tatar invasion of 1601. 7 bastions were erected on the premises, of which 5 were built by guilds, shoemakers, locksmiths, locksmiths, customs, tailors and butchers.
